THE TREE OF ETERNAL LIFE - Mattia Bosco

On the occasion of the Contemporary Day promoted by Amaci on 4th October, the artist Mattia Bosco inaugurates The tree of Eternal Life, site-specific installation inside the art.box, where the crucifixion, though of as extreme exposition, is positioned in the most visible place of the display window. Christ is hided, only his arms can be seen, while the rest of the body disappears behind the tree.
The crucifixion as capital execution, exhibition of the death of a man in front of the staring eyes of the crowd, in front of the men who condemned him and who rejoice in assisting to his death, who make fun of him while he’s still alive, telling him to ask to his father to pull him down from the cross. The father leaves the son dying on the cross, because this is what has to be accomplished.
The artist imagines that God, like Priamo, who begged for Ettore’s remains so as to take care of the funeral rite and save him from the havoc, finally intervenes occulting him, using the same wood on which he was nailed as a veil to cover him.
Such divine intervention turns upside down the destiny of Christ, who seems already resurrecting, and of the crossbeam, which returns to be tree.
